ASBESTOS AWARENESS FOR THE INSURANCE PROFESSIONAL
3 CE CREDITS (CO Division of Insurance)
This course sets out to provide basic information about asbestos, the hazards associated with asbestos and how to identify asbestos containing materials typically found in residential homes. We will focus on visible identification of the most common types of asbestos containing materials found in residential homes, and discuss the prevalence, and consequence of discovering asbestos containing materials during the property insurance claims process.
Specifically Designed for Insurance Agents and Producers
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Define as well as describe asbestos

Explain the health hazards associated with asbestos

Be familiar with the types, uses and likely occurrences of asbestos in residential homes;

Gain a basic understanding of the legal and regulatory framework for asbestos in CO

Understand in what situations asbestos should become a consideration in insurance transactions

Analyze and discuss specific case studies

Know when asbestos testing is required by CDPHE
On successful completion of this course, students will have:

An increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos

An understanding of routes of exposure and health effects associated with asbestos,

A familiarity with the types, uses and consequences of asbestos in residential structures;

The ability to analyze individual client situations and determine if –and/or how asbestos may pose an issue

Knowledge of Homeowner responsibilities and a knowledge of homeowner’s insurance policy coverage re: asbestos

Knowledge of where to obtain information in regard to asbestos regulations
