This course sets out to provide basic information about asbestos, the hazards associated with asbestos, a review of asbestos containing materials typically found in residential homes as well as an indepth discussion of how federal, local and State asbestos regulations impact the real estate industry.

On successful completion of this course, students will have:

1. ​

• An increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos

• An understanding of routes of exposure and health effects associated with asbestos,

• A familiarity with the types, uses and consequences of asbestos in residential structures;

• The ability to analyze individual client situations and determine if –and/or how asbestos may pose an issue

• Knowledge of Homeowner responsibilities and a knowledge of homeowner’s insurance policy coverage re: asbestos

• Knowledge of where to obtain information in regard to asbestos regulations
